"The lower RPM areas can easily be optimized without auto advance," What happens when it is 10 degrees colder, or you sit in traffic for 10 minutes and your intercoolers get heatsoaked? Wouldn't your optimal timing tuned on one day be no longer optimal? My own street testing indicates that knock timing varies considerably due to environmental factors, and the OEM system is fully capable of compensating for this. Am I missing something here?I fully agree that a system that is capable of accurately detecting knock at higher RPM than the stock system would beneficial.
